Services paid by card on the website renew automatically: at the end of each period, we charge the price of the next period to your saved card, and the invoice is sent to you by email. The renewal is for the same period and at the same price you paid when you ordered.
What you'll achieve
- see when the next payment is due and how much it is;
- know what happens if the payment does not go through;
- pay an outstanding amount yourself, from your NBT Account.
Before you start
- Log in to your NBT Account at nbt-host.com/cont with the link you received by email (see NBT Account: how to log in and what you'll find).
- If you know your card has expired or you have replaced it, add the new one before the due date (see How to change the card you pay with).
The steps
See the date and amount of the next payment
- In your NBT Account, open the Home tab or the service tab (Hosting, Domains, Tools).
- For each service, you see the date and amount of the next payment and the renewal status.
What renews and when
| Service | When it is charged |
|---|---|
| Hosting, tools, add-ons | at the end of the paid period: one month, 1, 2 or 3 years, depending on the period chosen when you ordered |
| Domains | once a year, 30 days before the domain expires |
| VPS servers | at the end of the month or of the 12 months paid |
A tool turned on later from your NBT Account, with the “Turn on” button, is a separate monthly subscription, with its own payment and invoice (see How to add a tool or an add-on).
A new price could only apply from the next renewal, and only after we notify you by email at least 30 days in advance.
If the payment does not go through
The payment can be declined by the bank: the card has expired, there are not enough funds, or the bank asks for a confirmation. We email you before each step. What happens next depends on the service:
| Service | What happens |
|---|---|
| Hosting | the account is suspended 7 days after the due date, and the data is permanently deleted 30 days after suspension |
| Domain | it is not renewed and, after it expires, someone else can register it |
| VPS server | the server is stopped 3 days after the due date; the data is kept for another 7 days, then permanently deleted |
Pay an outstanding amount
- In your NBT Account, on the Home or Invoices tab, you will see the “Due now” block, with the service and the amount.
- Click “Pay now”. The Stripe invoice page opens, where you pay by card.
- After payment, a suspended account is reactivated automatically. To keep it from happening again, change the saved card (see How to change the card you pay with).
Stop or resume renewal
- Stop the renewal: in your NBT Account, go to “Card, invoices and cancellation”, then cancel the subscription in the Stripe portal. The service keeps running until the end of the paid period (see How to cancel an NBT Host service).
- Changed your mind: a service with renewal stopped shows the “Resume renewal” button. Click it and resume the subscription in the portal, before the end of the period.
If something doesn't work
- The bank asked for a confirmation and the payment was left unfinished. Pay from your NBT Account, with “Pay now”: on the Stripe page, you confirm the payment in your banking app.
- I don't see the “Pay now” button. The payment has been made in the meantime, or the service was paid some other way than by card on the website. Write to us with your domain.
- The website shows as suspended. Pay the outstanding amount from your NBT Account. If you have paid and the website is still down after a few minutes, write to us.
- The domain has expired. Write to us right away: we will check with the registry whether it can still be renewed.
- I was charged, but I wanted to cancel. Renewals are not refunded, but the service keeps running until the end of the paid period. For hosting, the 30-day guarantee applies in the first 30 days after the first payment (see How to cancel an NBT Host service).
