The domain is the address of your website and email (for example firma-ta.ro). We register it in your name, through an accredited registrar, and you receive a single invoice for the domain and hosting.

What you'll get

  • a domain that belongs to you: you are the registrant, not NBT Host;
  • the domain pointed directly to your NBT Host hosting, if you also host with us — with no settings to configure;
  • automatic renewal, once a year, charged to your saved card, until you turn it off.

How much it costs

ExtensionPrice per year
.ro€10
.com€16

Prices are final: NBT X SOLUTIONS SRL is not registered for VAT. Prices for other extensions are on the Domains page; where no price is shown, write to us and we will confirm it.

Before you start

  • Choose 2–3 name options, in order of preference: short, easy to spell out over the phone, without unnecessary hyphens.
  • Check whether it is available (optional — we check it anyway): for .ro in the WHOIS on rotld.ro, for .com on lookup.icann.org. If a registrant or an expiry date appears, the domain is taken.
  • Prepare the registrant's details — those of the person or company in whose name the domain will be registered:
    • full name or company name and Tax ID (CUI);
    • address;
    • an email address and a phone number.
  • Choose the registrant's email carefully. It receives the registry's messages: confirmations, the transfer key, warnings. Use an address you will always have — not one on the domain you are just buying.

Steps

  1. Order the domain on the order page: enter the name you want, choose whether you also want hosting, and fill in your details (those of the person or company in whose name the domain will be registered). If you have questions beforehand, message us on WhatsApp at +40 775 396 021 or email suport@nbt-host.com.
  2. If you are an individual buying for yourself, you normally have 14 days in which you can withdraw. A domain, however, is registered at once and can no longer be “given back”. That is why, on the order page, you tick the request by which you confirm that you want the registration now and that you lose the right of withdrawal for the domain once it has been registered; without it, the order cannot be paid. Companies and sole traders (PFA) buying for their business don't need this request.
  3. You pay by card, on the secure Stripe payment page. The invoice is sent to you by email.
  4. Once the payment is confirmed, we check availability and register the domain in your name, then confirm on WhatsApp or by email. If you host with us, we point it directly to your hosting (nameservers ns1.nbt-host.ro and ns2.nbt-host.ro).
  5. For .com and the other generic extensions, you confirm your contact details. After registration, the registrant's email receives a message with a confirmation link, required by ICANN rules. Click it within 15 days; otherwise, the domain is suspended until you confirm. This doesn't apply to .ro.
  6. Wait a few hours until the new domain is visible everywhere on the internet.

The registrant's details are sent to the registrar and to the extension's registry (ROTLD for .ro), as their rules require.

Renewal

  • The domain is paid for one year at a time and renews automatically: 30 days before expiry we charge the next year's price to your saved card, then renew it with the registry, and the invoice is sent to you by email.
  • A domain that isn't renewed — for example, because the card payment was declined — can be registered by someone else, and getting it back, if still possible, is more complicated and costs more. Keep your saved card up to date.
  • If you no longer want the domain, turn off renewal from your NBT Account or from the Stripe portal (the link is in our emails), or tell us before it expires.

If something doesn't work

  • The domain was taken in the meantime. Until it is registered, an available domain isn't reserved for anyone. If someone else takes it before we register it, we let you know and you choose another option.
  • You asked for the domain in your name, but wanted it in your company's name (or the other way around). Changing the registrant is a separate registry procedure (for .ro: the transfer of the right of use). Write to us and we will tell you what it involves.
  • You don't receive the registry's emails. Check Spam. If the registrant's address is wrong or no longer exists, write to us and we will tell you how to update it (for .ro, ROTLD has a separate procedure for changing the email address).
  • The new domain doesn't show anything. If you don't have a website or hosting yet, that's normal. If you host with us, allow a few hours for propagation: in Enhance, under “Domains”, the “DNS status” column shows “DNS ok” when the domain has reached us. Then check the SSL certificate (see The free SSL certificate (Let's Encrypt)).
