Included in all plans

A business mailbox, not just an address.

The same tools for every address, whatever the plan. You manage them from Enhance; those for your own address, from Webmail too.

The same mailbox, everywhere

With IMAP over SSL you see the same messages and folders in Webmail, on iPhone, on Android and in Outlook. Webmail is Roundcube: you open it in your browser, with nothing to install.

Forwarding

A copy of your messages automatically goes to another address too — for example, orders@ to the colleague who handles deliveries.

Autoresponder

While you're on vacation, anyone who writes to you gets an automatic reply from you. Turn it on and off whenever you want.

Daily backups

The daily account backup also includes the mailboxes, with an encrypted copy on separate storage. Restoring from the last 7 days is free.

Servers in the EU

Your emails stay in a data center in the European Union, under GDPR rules.

Creating email on your domain

A new address, in a few minutes.

You create the addresses yourself in Enhance, as many as your plan allows. Each one has its own password and opens in Webmail, on your phone and in Outlook.

  1. 01

    Log in to Enhance

At server.nbt-host.com, with the hosting account's email and password from the welcome message.

  2. 02

    Add the address

Under “Emails” click “Add account”, type the part before the @ sign (for example office) and choose the domain.

  3. 03

Choose the space and the password

Give the mailbox as much space as you want, for example 1 GB, and a password of at least 10 characters. You can increase the space at any time.

  4. 04

    Log in to Webmail

Open mail.nbt-host.com and log in with the full address and its password. Webmail is included: nothing to install and nothing extra to pay. Then add the address to your phone or Outlook as well.

Settings for phone and Outlook

Tell us where your domain's DNS is and the table shows you the right server name. Ports and security stay the same.

Where is your domain's DNS?

The server is mail. followed by your domain. It has an SSL certificate, and SPF, DKIM and DMARC are already set up by Enhance. Use server.nbt-host.com: it works for any domain hosted with us, wherever its DNS is. In that case, SPF, DKIM and DMARC are added at your DNS provider.

The full address — office@firma-ta.ro, not just office. For both incoming and outgoing.
Password
The password of the email address, not your Enhance one. The outgoing server requires authentication, with the same details as incoming.
IMAP or POP3
IMAP, almost always: messages stay on the server, look the same everywhere and are included in backups. POP3 downloads them to a single device and usually deletes them from the server.
Deliverability

It lands in the Inbox, not in spam.

Major email providers check every message: does it really come from your domain? Three DNS records answer that, and on domains using our nameservers we set them up automatically, from Enhance.

  1. SPF

    Who is allowed to send

The list of servers that may send on behalf of your domain. A message sent from another server is suspicious.

  2. DKIM

    The signature on every message

Our server digitally signs everything you send. The recipient verifies the signature with a public key in DNS.

  3. DMARC

    Your rule for recipients

What to do with a message that claims to be from you but fails SPF or DKIM.

Gmail requires anyone sending to it to have at least SPF or DKIM. If your domain's DNS stays with another provider, we give you the records to add there. The server also has reverse DNS: server.nbt-host.com.

This is how the recipient's server reads a message sent correctly from your domain: all three pass.
Rspamd score, per messagethreshold: you choose it
Below the thresholdThe message goes to the Inbox.
At the threshold or aboveThe message is marked as spam and goes to the Spam folder. With a much higher score, it is rejected on arrival.

On arrival: spam goes to its own folder.

Every incoming message passes through Rspamd, the spam filter in Enhance, and gets a score; the thresholds decide where it ends up.

  • You change the thresholds yourself in Enhance, for each address: when a message goes to the Spam folder, when it is delayed for a few minutes (greylisting) and when it is rejected. Lower means a stricter filter, higher a more lenient one.
  • Add trusted senders to the allowlist, and unwanted ones to the blocklist.
  • The Spam folder also takes up space in your mailbox: empty it from Webmail or from your email app.

Up to 200 emails sent per hour, from each address

200 dots, 200 emails: the limit for one hour.

The sending limit

A limit that protects you.

A hacked website or a guessed password can turn a mailbox into a source of spam within minutes. The limit keeps the damage small and keeps the server, which you share with other clients, off blocklists — which your own message delivery also depends on. Separately, the messages a website sends from its own code — forms, orders, notifications — also have a limit of 200 per hour, per website.

Designed for

  • your company's day-to-day correspondence
  • messages from your website's contact form
  • your store's order confirmations
  • notifications sent by WordPress

Not for

  • newsletters to large lists
  • marketing campaigns
  • messages to addresses that didn't ask for them

For those there are dedicated email marketing services: they have servers built for bulk sending and handle unsubscribes on their own.

Email FAQ

Before your first address.

As much as you give it. When you create the address in Enhance, you choose the mailbox size; the plan doesn't set a per-mailbox limit. All mailboxes use the plan's disk space, together with the website and the databases, so a mailbox cannot exceed the remaining free space. You can see what takes up space in Enhance; the steps are in the disk space guide.

Yes: add the address to the Gmail app on your phone, over IMAP — the steps are in the Android guide. Don't rely on Gmail's “Check mail from other accounts” on desktop: it uses POP, and Google has announced it is discontinuing it. Forwarding to Gmail isn't ideal either: some forwarded messages are rejected or end up in spam.

Yes, if they were in the mailbox at the time of one of the daily backups from the last 7 days: we restore them for free, from the backup.

IMAP for incoming mail, on port 993, and SMTP for outgoing mail, on port 465, both with SSL/TLS; if your network blocks port 465, use 587, with STARTTLS. The server is mail. followed by your domain if the domain uses our nameservers, otherwise server.nbt-host.com. The username is the full address, and the password is the email address's password, not your Enhance one. The steps are in the guides for iPhone and iPad, Android and Outlook.

Yes. Your domain stays registered where it is: at the company you bought it from, you just change the nameservers to ns1.nbt-host.ro and ns2.nbt-host.ro, and we set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC automatically, from Enhance. If you want to keep your DNS with your current provider, we give you the records to add there. The steps are in the nameservers guide.

Up to 200 from each email address. Separately, the messages a website sends from its own code — forms, orders, notifications — also have 200 per hour, per website. That's enough for business correspondence and a website's automated emails; for newsletters to large lists, use an email marketing service. Why the limit exists.

Your Webmail account is your email address itself: there is no separate account. Open https://mail.nbt-host.com and log in with the full address (for example office@firma-ta.ro) and its password, not your Enhance password. It works in any browser, on a computer or a phone. The steps are in the Webmail guide.

You don't pay per address: addresses are included in the hosting plan. Starter, from €3.75 per month when paid for 36 months, has 10 addresses; Store, from €6.75 per month, and Multi-site, from €11.25 per month, have unlimited addresses. Mailboxes share the plan's disk space with the website.

Yes. Addresses live in the hosting account, so you need a plan, but a website is not required: you can use the plan for email only and add the website later. If you don't have a domain yet, we register it in your name.

An address on your company's domain looks more professional than a Gmail or Yahoo one, stays with the company when staff change, and is signed with DKIM, so messages reach the inbox more often. The full comparison is in the article Email on your domain or Gmail.
