What you'll achieve

Read and send email from your business address directly in the Gmail app, next to your Google account. The address doesn't become a Google account: Gmail just connects to the NBT Host server via IMAP, and messages stay with us — you see them the same way in Webmail and on your laptop. Addresses on your domain are included in your hosting plan; what you get with each mailbox is on the Email on your domain page.

Before you start

  • The address must already exist and you need to know its password (see How to create an email account in Enhance).
  • Update the Gmail app from Google Play.
  • Screens may look slightly different from one phone to another and from one app version to the next; the details to fill in are the same. The same goes for other apps, such as Samsung Email or Outlook for Android.
  • The settings, with the domain firmata.ro as an example:
ServerPortSecurity type
Incoming server (IMAP)mail.firmata.ro993SSL/TLS
Outgoing server (SMTP)mail.firmata.ro465SSL/TLS
  • Username: the full address, for example office@firmata.ro.
  • Password: the email address password, not your Enhance one.
  • Server: mail.firmata.ro works if the domain points to our server (for example, with the nameservers ns1 / ns2.nbt-host.ro). Otherwise, or if you're not sure, use server.nbt-host.com.
  • You can see the same settings in Enhance, under “Emails” » “Manage” next to the address » “Email client settings”.

The steps

  1. Open the Gmail app.
  2. At the top right, in the search bar, tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Add another account, then Other.
  4. Enter the full email address and tap Next.
  5. Choose Personal (IMAP).
  6. Enter the address's password and tap Next.
  7. Next come the incoming server settings. Check or fill in:

    • username: the full address;
    • the password;
    • server: mail.firmata.ro or server.nbt-host.com;
    • port 993 and security SSL/TLS.

    Tap Next.

  8. Next come the outgoing server (SMTP) settings:

    • leave sign-in (authentication) for sending turned on;
    • username and password: the same as for incoming;
    • server: the same;
    • port 465 and security SSL/TLS.

    Tap Next.

  9. Choose how often the app checks for new messages and whether you want notifications, then tap Next.
  10. Enter the name recipients should see (yours or your company's) and tap Next.

Done. Switch between your Google account and your business address by tapping your profile picture, at the top right.

Don't use Gmail's “Check mail from other accounts” on your computer. This feature uses POP, and Google has announced that after the first quarter of 2026 it no longer accepts new users; those who already have it can keep using it until January 2027. In the Gmail app for Android, iPhone and iPad, addresses from other providers can still be added via IMAP — exactly as above.

If something doesn't work

  • Sign-in fails or the password isn't accepted. Use the email address password, not your Enhance one, and the full address as the username. Try the same details in Webmail (see Webmail: how to read your email in the browser): if it doesn't work there either, the password is wrong and a new one must be set in Enhance.
  • Certificate error or a warning that the connection isn't secure. The server name has no certificate — usually because you entered mail.firmata.ro but the domain doesn't point to our server, or you entered the IP. Change the server to server.nbt-host.com, for both incoming and outgoing. Don't choose the security options that accept any certificate.
  • The app can't connect to the server. Check the server name (no spaces or typos), the port and the security type. Some Wi-Fi networks (offices, hotels) block email ports: try on mobile data.
  • You can receive, but you can't send. For the outgoing server: port 465 with SSL/TLS, authentication on, the same details as for incoming. If 465 is blocked on your network, use 587 with STARTTLS.
  • You can't find the messages marked as spam. Our server puts them in the address's Spam folder. In Gmail, open the menu at the top left and scroll down to your account's folders (see also Spam filters and the Spam folder).
