“How much does a website cost?” has two answers: how much it costs to build, once, and how much it costs to keep online, every year. Many people forget the second one until the first renewal invoice. Below are all the pieces, with examples calculated from our current prices.
In short
- To be online, a website needs hosting and a domain. Email on your domain, the SSL certificate and backups are included in hosting at NBT Host.
- Maintenance (updates, checks) is optional, but on a WordPress site someone has to do it: you or a company.
- Building the website is a separate, one-time expense.
- NBT Host prices are in euros and final (the company is not registered for VAT), and you pay by card, in euros, through Stripe.
1. Hosting
Hosting is the space where your website lives, plus the services around it. At NBT Host, web hosting plans cost the same at renewal, for the same period:

The longer the period, the cheaper each month: Starter comes down to €3.75 per month when paid for 3 years. All plans and what they include are on web hosting.
2. The domain
The domain is your website’s address and is paid yearly. A .ro costs €10 per year and a .com €16 per year, and renewal costs the same. The domain is registered in your name, not ours. The other extensions and their prices are on domains; if you are wondering which one to choose, read .ro or .com.
3. What is already included (and not charged separately)
Every NBT Host hosting plan includes:
- email on your domain — 10 addresses on Starter, unlimited on the other plans (details);
- a free SSL certificate, issued and renewed automatically;
- daily backups, with an encrypted copy stored separately from the server; restoring from a backup made in the last 7 days is free;
- migration of your website from your previous provider, once, under these conditions;
- WordPress installation, if you want us to do it.
With other offers, any of these can be a separate line on the invoice. It is worth adding them up before you compare prices.
4. Maintenance
A WordPress site has the core, the theme and the plugins, and all of them receive updates, many of them security updates. If they are not applied, the website stays vulnerable; if they are applied without a backup first, a bad update can break it. You can do them yourself (the steps are in the updates guide) or leave them to us:

Separately, on top of any hosting plan, you can add uptime monitoring, which emails you when the website goes down: on Starter and Store it costs €1 per month or €11 per year.
5. Building the website
If you do not build it yourself, building the website is a one-time expense. With the NBT X Solutions team, a business website starts from €200 and an online store from €300, with the final price confirmed before work begins (website design). Hosting and the domain are paid separately.
Sample budgets for one year
Business website, first year, Starter plan paid for 1 year and a .ro domain:
- hosting €55 + domain €10 = €65 per year, with email, SSL and backups included;
- with uptime monitoring (€11): €76 per year;
- with Essential maintenance (€5 per month, €60 per year): €125 per year.
The same website, paid for 3 years: hosting €135 + domain 3 × €10 = €165 for 3 years, or €55 per year.
Online store, first year, Store plan for 1 year and a .ro domain:
- hosting €99 + domain €10 = €109 per year;
- with Standard maintenance (€10 per month, €120 per year): €229 per year;
- with Complete maintenance (€20 per month, €240 per year), which also checks the cart and checkout: €349 per year.
Costs that do not come from your hosting provider
A website, especially an online store, can have other costs, and it is good to know them in advance:
- licenses for some premium themes or plugins, usually paid yearly;
- payment processor fees, on every transaction;
- invoicing software, if you sell online;
- a courier service, for deliveries;
- an email marketing service, if you send newsletters.
